Family dodgeball tournament
In lockdown, there's much less to do, and more time to fill, so dodgeball tournaments, once a thing of the past, are now making a comeback. Multiple tournaments, friendly and competitive (competing for chocolate) have taken place in the last week. 13 balls have been conscripted for dodgeball use; 4 are basketball size, 5 are tennis ball size, and 4 are in between. Of these, 2 are irregular. Alright, I should probably explain how the game works now. Here goes: you get a trampoline with a net, you get a bunch of balls and chuck them on the trampoline, you get on the trampoline yourself, you decide on the number of lives (3 or 5 is good) and you start jumping around. If you get hit, subtract one life. See how long you can survive! Try find as many balls as you can. Also vary ball sizes as each ball is affected differently by the force of your jump. Have fun! This afternoon, I'm having a face-off against my older sister. It's basketball dodge- a variation of dodgeball. To play, you'll need a hoop(see inset) The way it works is: you decide on a "basketball" Then, in game, if you have lost lives, if the "basketball" is above knee height, then if you catch it, you can take a shot. If the basketball goes through the hoop, then you get +1 life! Try make your own variations and share them with me. Take risks and play hard!

Ouch, my arm!
As of the 13/09/2021, sometime around 15:10 NZST, I was vaccinated against Sars-Cov-2 (Covid-19). It hurt. Almost as if someone had stabbed me with a needle! Hang on a sec... Never mind. It still hurts as I'm writing, but it's not the sharp pain of the first few seconds, it's more of a this-hurts-to-move ache. I never realised just how much I use my left arm before now! I have now joined the 69% of eligible New Zealanders who have had at least one dose of vaccine. In a few weeks I will get my second dose, giving me the full protection. (30x less likely to be hospitalised with Covid-19) Yesterday, 54,877 people were vaccinated. Well, haere ra! Don't worry when it's your turn- the staff know what they're doing. Our team of five million will be vaccinated in no time!

Neighbourhood time trial
Kia ora bloggers, and hello again Covid-19!
During lockdown I've been cycling a neighbourhood route, timing myself and trying to beat the previous record. Yesterday, I completely smashed that record, lowering the time on the clock from 8:42.50 to 7:56.63. Today I tried again and came up short at 8:01.30, 4.67 seconds above yesterdays time. Oh, and before I leave, here's a maths question: How much did I lower my record by yesterday, to hundreths of a second? Please comment if you figure it out.(or anyway) Bye for now!

First scratch project!
Well, I've done it now. On Monday the second of August, I released my first scratch project, a very simple game called baseball dodge. The object of the game is....well....to dodge baseballs. You are a cat flying around the screen. Two baseballs are also flying around the screen. If you hit a baseball, you lose a life. Lose all three of your lives, and it is Game Over! If you would like to play this game yourself, I've embedded it. Thanks Phil!

Robotics
Kia ora bloggers!
We started our third rotation of Tech last week, so time for Robotics. Our first day: learning about operating systems, or OS. Then we made a DLO showing all the different OS, I did a totally awesome one.
I don't know how to link a scratch project to my blog, so I used screencastify to record a video, shown below. I hope it turned out all right. What do you think I could do next?
